@Joe: When I saw part one, I was (mis)informed Thel was the Commander, which might cause some confusion to anyone reading my entry for that. I found it believable mostly because he seemed more 'important'. Like I said in this entry though, I think both would make some foreshadowing/ironic sense, in their own respects. That's why I didn't question what I was told until I was corrected between blog entries.

As for Halsey, I just think they were lazy. And she might be two decades older than John, but they -did- shave those two decades from her appearance in her first visual appearance. (That, and they made her graying black hair blond.)

Hmm ... I'm pretty sure the Major was the future Arbiter. Saw it somewhere on the Bungie forums, and it would much more sense than the Commander being Thel Vadam.

And wouldn't you argue that there is some aspect of foreshadowing when the Commander says that the Major would make a good Arbiter? (Better literary ... uh depiction quality, imho - though not by much.)

Also the Halsey lines were horrible. She's older than John by ... what, 19 years? And she talks to him like she's flirting with him or something, soap-opera style. Keeping consistency with Cortana's personality is important (since Cortana was made from a flash-clone of Halsey's brain) but ... it should've been done at a realistic and uh ... age-appropriate level.
